Pathfinder Course Overview

The course is three weeks long and is comprised of a:

  • Nomenclature exam
  • Sling Load written exam
  • Sling Load hands-on test
  • Helicopter Landing Zone Test
  • Drop Zone written test and a graded FTX.

Students should study the Sling Load Nomenclature prior to attending the course. The Nomenclature exam will be on Day 2 of the course.

If a student scores an 80 or above, he or she will be re-entry qualified and have three attempts to pass the Sling Load hands-on exam (test, re-test, and re-entry test).

Students scoring below 80 on the Nomenclature exam will only have two attempts during the Sling Load hands-on exam (test and re-test).
Students should memorize the Sling Load Deficiency Sheet and the Aircraft Limitations prior to attending the course.
